Much of our news feeds have been filled recently with horrific images and information about humans being sold in slave auctions in Libya, a reality that tragically extends far beyond this one region, with estimates at 40+ million slaves today around the world. Renowned humanitarian photographer Lisa Kristine, the I AM Campaign, and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center have come together to create a one day symposium on combating modern day slavery and the illicit networks that sustain it.
This event is part of a series of local efforts seeking to create a more robust sense of awareness during National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Returning to Cincinnati to deliver our Closing Keynote Address, after jaw dropping reviews for her exhibit, ENSLAVED: A Visual Story of Modern Day Slavery, Lisa Kristine will use powerful imagery coupled with intimate portrayals to raise awareness of modern slavery.
